Interfaith Power & Light (DC.MD.NoVA) is committed to serving as a meeting point for the good folks in the area who are undertaking congregational solar projects, and to ensuring that each project benefits from the experience and lessons learned of all of those that came before.
Solar Congregations Map
In celebration of the faith communities in our region that have gone solar, check out our comprehensive map of solar congregations in the region. Click on through the pins to see details, pictures, and videos of solar installations and contact information for solar leaders at these congregations.
Do you know of any solar congregations that aren’t on our map? Do you have corrections for the information on the map? Email solar@ipldmv.org to make our map even better.
Go Solar at Your Congregation
[Update to video above, 12/5/22] The passage of the Inflation Reduction Act since this video was recorded has changed two things:
* The federal solar tax credit is now 30% and will stay at that level for several years
* There will be some way starting in 2023 for non-taxable entities to “monetize” — that is, enjoy — the tax credit even though they don’t pay taxes. That said, we expect that Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) financing will still be the way most congregations choose to go solar.

Contact Us for Developer Introductions
If you’re ready to move forward contact us: solar@ipldmv.org for help connecting with interested solar developers. An early step will likely be their request for 12 consecutive months of energy bills for your facility, and the roof materials and remaining life of the roof.
Go Solar at Home, in Good Company
Groups of neighbors are coming together to purchase solar for their homes throughout the region.
